St. Louis, Missouri
About
After Dark has been singing at Washington University since September 2001 and is known on campus for their sleek black and white attire, rocking arrangements, hip choreography, and (you guessed it) nocturnal melody-making. Recently, they have performed at various venues, including St. Louis University, U. of Illinois, U. of Wisconsin-Madison, U. of Michigan, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and on the nationally syndicated Steve & DC Morning Show. In Oct. 2008, After Dark entered the political spotlight by performing their original song, "I've Got a Crush on Joe Biden & Sarah Palin," live on national television for CBS' The Early Show during coverage of the Vice-Presidential Debate for an estimated 2.9 million viewers.
Their second album, Eclipse, received CARA awards for Best Co-Ed Collegiate Song and Best Co-Ed Arrangement. "Mama's Room," was selected for the Voices Only 2007 and the SING IV compilation albums. "Ready For Love" appeared on Voices Only 2008.

Praise for "Eclipse" from The Recorded A Cappella Review Board, where "Snakes on a Plane" scored a perfect 5!:
"Arranging is becoming a lost art in collegiate circles due to over-reliance on studio magic, which makes the above average work on Eclipse that much more compelling."
"Eclipse has a slick, radio-friendly sound that will please casual and rabid listeners alike."
"Snakes on a Plane, Mama's Room and Worn Me Down are creative song choices with high-quality arranging and tons of energy. Especially with Snakes on a Plane, I found it nearly impossible to listen without singing along."
"Why have I never heard of After Dark before? Their new album, Eclipse, boasts some excellent arranging, singing, and mixing."
"[On "Mama's Room",] the sexy and stylish voice of Julie Kling drifts through the microphone, the speakers, seducing her helpless listeners with little effort."
"Buy it."
