About
An Ana Bon-Bon concert can transport you to the rollicking music hall stages of the 1930s or a country juke joint on a sultry summer afternoon. Bon-Bon is quite naturally cabaret with a raw blues constitution.
Ana Bon-Bon plays her accordion as a rhythm box, layering blues, country, showtunes, and ‘bump & grind’ rhythms in songs and performances developed from vaudeville, jump blues, Delta & Chicago blues, '50s Hollywood, depression-era music, spirituals, and western swing.
Bon-Bon bends her repertoire to satisfy a cabaret, blues, folk, or festival audience, and when playing musical hostess her naturally risqué humour bubbles over. Bon-Bon occasionally performs ‘burlesque on burlesque’, reflecting her background in live performance art, and can sling adult humour around a cabaret as naturally as entertaining a happy wagonride of children.
