Formed in 1999, Default broke through with their 2001 debut album The Fallout, which included the hit single "Wasting My Time" and reached platinum certification. The band won the 2002 Juno Award for Best New Group and released several more albums through the 2000s. Lead vocalist Dallas Smith later launched a successful country solo career and the band has reunited intermittently since 2018 for touring.
