About
Steve Dawson leads an all-star lineup honouring JJ Cale's influential and understated 1971 debut album Naturally. Considered a classic for defining the ‘Tulsa Sound’, a laid-back, rolling boogie, it contradicted all the louder, commercial styles of boogie, blues, and country-rock at the time.
Still, the superbly crafted album contained two mega hits for other artists, with Eric Clapton covering “After Midnight” and Lynyrd Skynyrd taking “They Call Me the Breeze.” A hit for Cale himself, the album also includes “Crazy Mama.”
In the first set, an all-star lineup of artists will perform the album’s mellow blend of blues, country, rockabilly, and jazz in full. The second set features personal favorites from Cale’s remarkable catalogue, as chosen by the musicians.
A co-presentation with BlueShore at CapU, you will not want to miss this powerful celebration of a true classic, as we celebrate ten years of the Album Show!
