About

Canadian Premiere

Fuyuko is a solitary thirty-something freelance proofreader living a quiet, meticulously ordered existence on the margins of Tokyo. Disconnected from the world around her and weighed down by unspoken anxieties from her past, her routine begins to shift when a chance encounter with a gentle physics teacher introduces her to the beauty of light and the possibility of human connection. As she slowly opens herself to intimacy and the vulnerability of being seen, Fuyuko is forced to confront the emotional walls she has spent years constructing.

Based on Mieko Kawakami’s acclaimed novel, All the Lovers in the Night is a delicate, deeply felt exploration of urban isolation and quiet self-discovery. Tenderly directed by Yukiko Sode and anchored by an extraordinarily subtle lead performance from Yukino Kishii, the film captures the precise ache of modern loneliness while offering a warm, luminous ode to the courage it takes to let the world back in.
