About

A global academic summit for Sikh scholarship, dialogue, and community impact

Guru Nanak Institute (GNI) is proud to host its 5th Annual International Sikh Research Summit on October 3–4, 2026, at Surrey City Hall in Surrey, British Columbia. This year's theme, "Curiosity becomes Scholarship. Voices become Impact.", celebrates the power of research, dialogue, and community collaboration in shaping the future.

Day 1 – "Curiosity becomes Scholarship" will feature a keynote presentation, international research presentations, youth talks, and discussions exploring Sikh studies, history, culture, education, business, technology, and interdisciplinary research. The day will end with an evening dinner event and a fireside chat with the Honourable Baltej Singh Dhillon, Senator.

Day 2 – "Voices become Impact" will focus on community engagement through presentations on "Where have we been?", " Where are we now and where are we going?", rapid-fire presentations by Sikh organizations, a panel discussion on the evolving role of Gurduaras, and open discussions addressing current community issues, challenges, and collaborative solutions for "Sarbat da Bhala."

Whether you are an academic, researcher, educator, professional, student, community leader, policy maker, or member of the public, the Summit offers a unique opportunity to learn about global research, share ideas for collaborations, build professional and personal connections, and contribute to meaningful conversations that strengthen scholarship and community impact.
