Always wanted to try tap dancing? Now’s your chance to have some fun and make some noise – no experience required. Enjoy the sunshine and the breeze as you learn to tap dance amongst the trees!
Join Gateway Theatre and The Rhythm Room for a FREE beginner tap class in the park as part of Culture Days BC. This 1-hour outdoor workshop is a fun, welcoming introduction to the basics of tap dance, led by renowned tap dancer and instructor Jennifer Bishop, who will guide you step-by-step through simple rhythms and movements.
Session Times
Sun, Oct 4 – 2:00PM
Sun, Oct 4 – 3:00PM
Grassy Area in front of Gateway Theatre
Inspired by the joyful spirit of musical theatre and Gateway Theatre’s upcoming dazzling production of 42nd Street, this class is a great way to experience the energy, rhythm, and excitement of tap dance! Expect lots of laughter, a little bit of coordination, and a whole lot of fun.
Just bring your feet and tap-happy attitude. Please wear hard-soled shoes if you have them (closed-toe recommended). In case of rain or poor weather, the class will be moved inside Gateway Theatre.
All ages are welcome! While the class is best suited for ages 7 and up, younger participants are encouraged to join with a parent or caregiver and jump in at their own pace. Please note that all children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
Registration is free, but space is limited.
To help us make this event accessible to as many people as possible, we kindly ask that you only reserve a ticket if you’re able to attend. If your plans change, please email [email protected] to cancel your spot so another participant can join. A small number of walk-in spots may be available on a first come first serve basis if space permits.
