Director Yael Bridge follows workers in New York, Kentucky, California, and across the country during the 2023 negotiations, as drivers and part-timers organize around dangerous heat, wages, job security, and the basic right to work with dignity. The film’s title has no question mark because its answer is already clear: workers move America.
Bridge, whose previous feature The Big Scary “S” Word (2020) examined socialism in the United States, brings a clear-eyed attention to organizing as an everyday practice, compiling footage from meetings, rallies, votes, and the ordinary moments where people decide what they owe one another. Executive produced by Academy Award–winner Steven Bognar (American Factory) and produced by Yoni Golijov (Cover-Up) — both VIFF alumni — Who Moves America turns labour struggle into a human drama of risk, solidarity, and building power.
