The Bergmann Duo is delighted to return to The ACT Arts Centre with a captivating programme titled Fantasies for Two. This special concert showcases some of their favorite works from the piano four-hands repertoire, featuring the magnificent and deeply moving Fantasy in F minor by Franz Schubert, alongside Marcel Bergmann’s own imaginative Fantasy on Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, inspired by the music of George Gershwin.

Invocations
Vancouver-based flutist Paolo Bortolussi joins the Bergmann Duo for a captivating programme featuring an enticing blend of different musical styles and genres reflective of the cultural influences from our musical pasts.
A seminal work of the repertoire, Prokofiev’s Sonata for flute and piano in D Major will be featured alongside pieces by Astor Piazzolla’s suite, as well as some gems of traditional Irish and Canadian folk music - and more!

Music That Smiles
This is a lighthearted and entertaining program filled with wit, charm, and playful surprises. The Bergmann Duo are joined by guest violinist Cameron Wilson, featuring his delightful works Hiccup di Tango and Pink Panther Variations. The program also explores humour in works by some of the great classical composers, bringing joy to life through imaginative music that is sure to leave audiences smiling.

Pocket Symphonies
‘Pocket’ ensembles offer an opportunity to bring a fresh and new take on a much-beloved work such as Beethoven’s 5th Symphony. The cornerstone classical masterpiece is probably one of the most well-known pieces of all time and this ‘pocket’ version by Carl Burchard for one piano 4 hands, violin and cello leaves nothing out in terms of fullness and exuberance. Later in the performance, hear the quartet perform Hebrides Overture by Mendelssohn and one of Brahms Hungarian Dances.

Percussiano 3 brings together the Bergmann Duo and percussionist Rod Thomas Squance in a dynamic six-hand performance. Blending piano four hands with a vibrant array of percussion, the programme spans from Bach to Piazzolla, and includes a new arrangement of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, creating an electrifying and genre-crossing concert experience.
