About

Candy follows Travis Abels on what should be a simple quest: get to Ireland’s Cliffs of Moher, where legend says if you stand at the edge at sunset, you can catch a glimpse of your future.

Easy enough.

Except before Travis can get there, he needs a little something. A piece of candy. A puff from a vape. A song to kill the silence. A little romantic attention. A little audience approval. Just one tiny hit of sweetness before the big truth arrives.

From the creator of Things I Hide from Dad, Candy is an immersive solo show about the things we reach for when the present moment gets too quiet. Weaving true storytelling, physical comedy, sound design, clown, theatrics, and sugar-fueled chaos, Travis tumbles through childhood Halloween temptation, ecstatic dance, nicotine devotion, heartbreak, creative hunger, and the terrifying possibility of sitting still long enough to feel what’s underneath it all.

Equal parts hilarious, tender, and uncomfortably recognizable, Candy asks: what do we do with the ache for more? Do we ever actually quit our addictions, or just trade them for better costumes? And what if the thing we’re running from — silence, loneliness, ourselves — isn’t the monster after all?

A funny, strange, heart-forward ride about pleasure, craving, presence, and the sweetness we borrow from tomorrow to survive today.
