Feel the Rhythm at Vancouver Flamenco Festival

The Vancouver Flamenco Festival returns September 19–27 for its 36th edition, bringing the passion, movement, and artistry of flamenco to stages and community spaces across Vancouver. With performances from local, national, and international artists, plus free community events, workshops, and masterclasses, the festival celebrates the rich tradition and evolving future of flamenco in Canada.

Festival Highlights:

  • September 19: Free outdoor flamenco performances at The Fringe Patio on Granville Island, plus a free introductory class with Rosario Ancer at The Dance Centre.
  • September 20: Free outdoor performances at The Fringe Patio, including a special family-friendly performance and free adult and children’s classes.
  • September 22: Philippe Jean and Iminah Kani present a special flamenco guitar concert at Alliance Française, featuring the presentation of the Victor Kolstee Award.
  • September 23: Raíz Viva by Jafelin Helten at Performance Works on Granville Island.
  • September 24: United Elements by Kasandra Flamenco, plus a guitar workshop with Gareth Owen.
  • September 25: Jewels by Karen Flamenco.
  • GIVEAWAY! September 26: Nuevo IV – Lo Nuevo y lo Añejo by Flamenco Rosario, featuring artists from Vancouver and Spain.
  • September 27: La Música del Flamenco featuring Mercedes Cortés and Gareth Owen, followed by a festive flamenco party (Juerga Flamenca), plus masterclasses with Víctor Fernández and Mercedes Cortés.

With a mix of free and ticketed events, the festival offers something for longtime flamenco fans and newcomers alike, creating opportunities to experience world-class artists, connect with the local flamenco community, and discover this vibrant art form.
