About

Composed of four elite orchestral leaders and soloists, the JUNO Award-winning New Orford String Quartet returns to the Kay Meek, bringing a palpable sense of joy to each performance and described by the Toronto Star as “nothing short of electrifying.”

Following on from their 2025 performance of Beethoven’s Op. 131 at the Kay Meek, the Quartet will be performing Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 15 in A minor. Joined by our Artistic Advisor Ian Parker, the concert will close with Piano Quintet in E flat major, Op. 44 by Robert Schumann. The concert will also include a work by renowned Canadian composer Kelly-Marie Murphy.

Performing chamber music at the highest level, and comprised of Principal players from major Canadian orchestras and ensembles, the ensemble combines exceptional artistry with a vibrant, collaborative energy, including with pianist Ian Parker.

Ian has performed in recitals across Canada, the United States and Europe and with top Canadian orchestras including the symphonies of Toronto, Quebec, Vancouver, Victoria, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Orchestre Métropolitain, and the Calgary Philharmonic.

“These four string virtuosos animate every note with uncommon power and passion as well as elegance. Listen and weep.” – The Toronto Star
