About

The Irish Rovers are a beloved folk group formed in 1963 in Toronto by a group of Irish immigrants, including founding members George Millar, Joe Millar, Jimmy Ferguson, Will Millar, and Wilcil McDowell. Drawing inspiration from traditional Irish music and storytelling, the group quickly gained popularity with their lively performances, humor, and signature blend of folk tunes. Their breakthrough came with the international hit “The Unicorn,” which helped cement their place in folk music history and introduced their sound to a global audience.

With a career spanning more than six decades, The Irish Rovers have become one of the longest-running and most enduring folk bands in the world. Known for classic songs like “Wasn’t That a Party” and “Drunken Sailor,” they have released dozens of albums and toured extensively across North America and beyond. Even after lineup changes over the years, the band continues to perform and record, keeping Irish folk traditions alive while entertaining generations of fans with their timeless music and infectious energy.
