About
Toronto-based six-piece Tamar Ilana & Ventanas perform original and traditional material in over 20 languages, weaving flamenco dance, Greek and Turkish love songs, Sephardic melodies, Bulgarian dance tunes, and jazz improvisation into one dynamic performance.
Founded in 2011 by Jewish-Indigenous vocalist and flamenco dancer Tamar Ilana, the group has toured across Canada, the US, Portugal, and Spain. Their 2024 album AZADI — meaning "freedom" — draws on jazz and Mediterranean folk traditions, reflecting the rich cultural roots of everything they do.
Featuring the intensity of flamenco guitar and dance, the soulful sounds of oud and violin, and Tamar's powerhouse vocals, this is an evening of music, movement, and celebration.
