Funky Winker Beans

Funky Winkerbeans Pub has been around since 1984 and before that it was called Palace Hotel. The paintings of the ladies on the wall are supposed to be of the ladies that used to work as prostitutes in the 1920’ in the hotel rooms upstairs. In its day it was a first class hotel with doorman etc to let you into the hotel and the bar. This area used to be the main part of Vancouver, Of course in those days separate entrances for men and women. Since Doug Heywood and a partner has purchased the business and land and building they have built stage, DJ Booth, removed some of the carpet and put in flooring, removed some railings to open up back area around stage, done repairs to the front outside of the building ie new cornice and painting. The building has a great sound and new beer lines have been installed so they can serve more than one draft (8 lines toal now).
