About
The Metropolitan Theatre Cooperative Society (Metro Theatre) is a non-profit theatre company in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
In our 52nd season, Metro Theatre has produced more than 488 shows, including nearly 50 musicals, over the years. Sometimes referred to as the “humble little theatre,” Metro ironically has over 300 seats and puts on eight shows a year, more than all other non-professional theatre companies in North America (and probably many professional ones as well).
Metro brought the traditional pantomime to Vancouver, and has a long history of British comedies and mysteries. But you’ll see far more than British productions nowadays: our annual line-up includes plays and musicals from everywhere, including a focus on North American and contemporary playwrights. You could say, we’ve got something for everyone!
Metro Theatre is wheelchair accessible and provides assisted-listening devices upon request. And don’t forget the Metro Lounge, where the cast and crew tend to meet up after each show – there’s always a crowd gathering to celebrate our local talent.
Come check us out. It’s community theatre at its best!
